Collection: Katie Cameron

Minneapolis, MN

Katie Cameron grew up in Burlington, Vermont, underglazing bisqueware in her dad’s office while he worked (the office was above a paint-your-own pottery studio). While receiving her degree at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Cameron was a studio assistant for the ceramics department, and after graduating, she began her own independent studio practice as cry baby clay (www.crybabyclay.com). Through her platform, Cameron sells clay kits, handmade jewelry, sculptures, and pots as well as facilitates community workshops and studio space rentals. Her work is inspired by her many feelings, love of play, everyday objects, and authenticity. Cameron keeps a photo album from a trip she took to Oaxaca, Mexico called "walls that make me feel something.” The surfaces of her work lately have been informed by these color memories and patterns that left a lingering impression on her emotionally and aesthetically.
